Here are some of my favorite BTS activities!

Day one!
(A 3 day week) Chicka, Boom, Boom!
We had a great first day in our classroom!
The first day my kiddos go home at 10:50
no lunch that day.I have BTSN that night.

In the past we have made Chicka Boom Boom
necklaces on the first day! Chick a Boom Necklace link

Good Morning Song
This is a freebie in my TPT store.

"This is how I color on the first day of school."
I had these up for BTSN.
Thank goodness for 1 hour photos!

Friday is cooking day!
We made Chicka Boom
Trees and wrote the Recipe

Week two we made this cute alphabet activity from
Miss Lee's Kindergarten
They make me so happy!
 Thank you Julie!

We introduced our classroom helper

We are Book Lovers.
We learned how to read books carefully.

How many letters in your name?
First I wrote their names in yellow highlighter.
Next they tore astro-bright paper to decorate their names.
The next day we cut them apart to see how many letters and glued back down on a paper. Then we sorted by how many letters.
I forgot to take a picture of that part!

Week two we made Friendship fruit and wrote the
Recipe

This week we shared our Me in a Bag
I gave each parent at Back to School Night a brown
paper bag with this note attached.
This not my original idea. My teammate shared with me.
There are many versions on Pinterst too!
I really enjoyed hearing about all my kiddos favorite things.

Here is a sample of goodies in the bag, Aliana likes
to read Korean, swim, she loves animals and God!

In Reader's Workshop
We learned about where to find the title of a book.
We worked on our "Reading Stamina"

Last but not least we made our "All About Me Glyph"
**Not shown but included in our busy day was learning how to write our letters, Math Wall which included: 5 frames,  subitizing, writing numbers, simple CGI stories, STMATH and tallies! We have a short day the first 3 and 1/2 weeks due to "Welcome conferences." This is an opportunity for parents to to tell me about their child and for me to do a mini assessments.
Tomorrow starts our full day and Writer's Workshop begins!
Enjoy your week!

Super Reading Powers! Ideas I shared from ITEACHK & ESGI

Saturday, August 6, 2016

I found these 6 capes on amazon they now are $16.00. $9 less than when I bought them in June. I'm going to buy some more!
My friend has a Cricut and she made the SR for me out of glitter
iron on paper from Hobby Lobby! Thank you Jamie!

I made new covers for my Traveling Word Walls!

We keep our traveling word wall in our book boxes!

ESGI makes printable individual
flash cards for practice at home!

I will use these color coded lists to help kiddos practice!
When they know all the red they will go on a metal ring
 in their book box!

This year I plan on making theses cute TP roll Super Readers!
We will roll up the sight words that we are working on and slip inside the tube!

With  ESGI  I can print out individualize parent letters

Isn't this cool!
I can even see a graph of how we are doing over all!

This tells me we need to practice the word "want" more.

When I introduce "pointing and tracking"
we will make these Super Reader pointing sticks!

More fun ways to get your Kiddos READING!

 DON"T FORGET!
Have you entered for your chance to  get one of ten $50 TPT cards? During the Back to School with  ESGI and Friends contest you could win one of those gift cards! It's a Zoo Out There!

Friday, July 1, 2016

We spent several months preparing the Room 2 Zoo, crafting, reading and writing about all these fabulous creatures.

We added 4 new animal exhibits to our zoo this year each child picked one animal to make. They also made a Zookeeper to watch over the animals.
Siberian Tigers were featured in our Zoo this year!

We learned all kinds of fascinating information about them.

Macaws were a new exhibit!

Nothing like some good animal facts to get your kiddos excited about writing and learning new information.

I think my favorite new addition were our hippos made from tissue paper and starch.

Who doesn't love pandas?
More zoo friends to come!
