A Little Dr. Seuss and a March quilt!

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

I will be doing this fun book with my class
next week! It's from my friends at

Here is a cute  little "Cat in the Hat" hat. We will be having a pancake breakfast and wear our pajamas on Monday in honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday. The children will share their favorite Dr. Seuss book with their reading buddies.

My children will make this activity for Go Dog Go!
We will brainstorm places to go (beach, park, zoo etc.) and put the words in the pocket chart.
Then they make their dog and car and
write four places he can go!

Here is what our March quilt will look like. We finger painted the shamrocks last year. This year we may just sponge paint them. It's a little faster. I had a wonderful parent volunteer paint their hands today!

Zero the Hero Came to School on Valentine's Day!

Thursday, February 14, 2013

Today we celebrated the 100th Day of School
 with Zero the Hero!

All four  Kindergarten classes and our
TK  (transitional K) class celebrated with 100 day themed math centers outside in the warm sun!
Here is a photo of our 100 day hats. The children write to 100 by 10's and then stamp on the ten strips with ten stamps on each one!

We made cool 100 shaped glasses!

Nothing beats trying to catch a
ZERO with no hands!
(Yummy donuts)

We also strung 100 day necklaces with fruit loops in sets of 10 with fun paper numbers to string
with them in sets of 10.

100 + hands make a fun rainbow!
Oops! I forgot to take a picture
of the finished project.

Here is our 100 dollar bill pouch to carry all our goodies in. Made from a paper lunch bag and a ribbon shoulder strap. We also made a cute Zero the Hero puppet it has a  song on the back.

We  stamped 100 stamps and counted out 100 pennies on 100's boards! Oh yes and my little friend in the corner has been to the face painting station and got a 100 painted on her cheek.

You can't celebrate Zero the Hero's visit with out a cape! By far one of the most popular stations.
*Not pictured here but two more fun centers were trying to blow 100 bubbles and a bean bag toss game. If you got your bean bag in the 100 bin you won a prize! (Actually everyone who played got a prize)

Here we are looking a  little
dis-shoveled but it sure was fun!
After such a fun morning with
Zero the Hero we came back
and Celebrated Valentines day!
Yes I am tired (LOL)

Kim's Open House Pictures from the Farm!

Wednesday, February 6, 2013

My Farm Open House was last
Thursday evening.
Here I am with one of my little farmers
enjoying some farm fun!

Since the open house was so early this year, our cookbooks are not complete. The children got to do a cooking activity with their families.
 We made a "Moolicious" Cow!

I took pictures of my little chefs and stuck them in a pot of noodles for display. These fun pictures will go on the cover of their cookbooks
at the end of the year.

Here is one of my farmers posing with
 his yummy cow.

These darling ducklings have some duckling
facts inside their t.p. roll bodies.

Here are our tear paper ducks.
They are busy eating fish!
It's a little subtraction activity.

This was our adding strawberry seeds book.
 The seeds were black beans.

In October we went on a farm field trip
and all the children planted radish seeds.
We made a radish journal and charted their growth.

These are some sample pages from
the radish journal.

Another parent child activity was some "Farm Fun Measuring". The children measured farm animals on cards with unifix cubes and lima beans. Then they recorded their findings on a recording
sheet to take home.
 More to come!
